The City of Clinton has adopted an Interim Ordinance 06-03-2026 establishing a temporary moratorium on the placement, installation, and expansion of fuel tanks on residential property within the City limits.
The purpose of this moratorium is to allow the City adequate time to review existing ordinances, evaluate potential public health and safety concerns, consider land-use impacts, and develop appropriate regulations regarding the storage of fuel on residential property.
During the moratorium period, no new fuel tanks may be placed, installed, or expanded on residential property unless specifically authorized by the City as provided within the ordinance.
The City Council determined that a temporary pause is necessary to protect the public health, safety, and welfare while studying the issue and considering potential ordinance amendments.
A copy of the Interim Ordinance is available for public inspection at the Clinton City Office during regular business hours.
Questions regarding the moratorium may be directed to the Clinton City Office at (320) 325-5580.
